"Cakebread's Potters"

Every year for the past ten years, the Napa Valley College Potters' Guild has had the privilege of being invited to participate in Cakebread Cellars American Harvest Festival. The festival is a celebration of good, fresh food, invited outstanding chefs, purveyors of all kinds of special food products, wine experts, food writers, with lots of helpers - and everyone is welcomed by the Cakebread family. Each year, instructors and students arrive with an assortment of handmade plates, bowls, and platters, and the chefs use them to present their food. They are photographed by Terrance McCarthy. Not everyone gets served every course on a handmade plate, but this year (September, 2000) was a kind of landmark for the potters. Everyone was served dessert on a handmade piece. (It was surprising to see how pleased one of my table partners was to have his dessert served on a very, very large plate; he liked the way it looked so much that he bought the plate!)

On the first day of the year 2000 American Harvest Festival, when everyone was together, Terry McCarthy took a picture of "Cakebread's Potters" on the steps of the deck. They are, from left to right: Owen Nelsen, Jason Walker, Carolyn Broadwell, Karen Winograde, Scott Parady, Lois Tselentis, and Beverly Cavagnaro. (Carolyn, Scott and Jason are instructors.)

Below are the photographs! (Click on each one for larger views.) Yummmm!
