Eva and Fritz

These dogs are miniature dachshunds. In the picture to the left, the one on the left is a female, Eva, and on the right is Fritz (deceased, see below). He dug his way into my heart, both literally and figuratively. There are holes all over the front yard, and he was death on the roots of plants. He wasn't allowed into the front yard very often. When both were there, Eva felt her job was to bark "greetings" at everyone who passed by, but I'm not sure all the passers-by understood her intentions, which was probably just as well. The dogs got along very well with Sam, my beautiful cat.

(July 6, 2001. Whoops! There is a new dog now, Rudi, who does not get along with the cat. However, Eva needed company, and she has adjusted well to Rudi, who is introduced on the first page of this section.)
