CECI N' EST PAS UNE VOITURE ...C'EST UN ART DE VIVRE

In the summer of 2000, after Sarah had acquired her car, I was traveling in Europe. I took photos of almost every 2CV I saw - although I wasn't always fast enough getting my camera out! (The friends I was with in Paris helped me spot them.) They are getting rare, even in France. The two 2CVs above, left, were parked at Versailles. The shots above and to the right were in Paris. The 2CV at the left was parked outside my house in Napa a few years ago. I have no idea who it belonged to!

Additional Pictures Below!

In February, 2002, Sarah, Darius and I went to Amsterdam for a few days. Great trip! We saw a few Lilac Ancienta's (that's phonetic spelling; in Dutch it means "ugly duckling," but I don't know how to spell it), but this is the only one I captured on film. I wasn't fast enough to get others as they drove by...

This is a model of Sarah's car, made by Vladimir Fomincev, in Russia, from photographs of it that she sent to him by email! It took him about two months to make, but took about a year to make all financial and delivery arrangements. (It's approximaely 23 cm or 10 inches long. Click on his name to go to the page on his site where he shows his working pictures.)

A very sad picture; I hope we'll see the rebuilt duck before too long. :-(
Update, 3/29/03; the only change is that it is in the garage, instead of partly in and out...
I'll keep adding pictures to this page, and also to put pictures of the duck when she is restored, too....cb
